Introducing Charleston's newest musical extravaganza, Ray's Used Hubcaps. Hillbilly George Fox, Brother Ev Bigbee, Robio Shealy, and Live John Krucke make up the Psycho-Billy rock and roll quartet. Seeing this band is like venturing into that junkyard on the wrong side of the tracks that you always wanted to get a good look at but never had the gumption to go see. And lucky for you Ray's Used Hubcaps got the best junk, premium Robert Johnson and crazy new original stuff like Little Bitty Bug, (not to mention a bunch of hubcaps). These four fixtures of Charleston's music scene hung out in George's back yard in the warehouse district for a couple of months drinking beer, shooting the breeze and, oh yeah, refining their sound and writing new material. But now their unique brand of songs, storytelling, bad jokes and make yo ass get up and dance rock and roll can be seen and enjoyed all over.
Hillbilly George Fox, one of the founders, says the most important ingredient in a Used Hubcap show is electricity-- it's like a picnic in the country without the country. It's a lot like stopping at a roadside peanut stand but they don't have no peanuts left and he has to sing you a song because you took the time to stop. It's a lot like a bucket a chicken and it ain't even Fourth of July. Fox's Hillbilly roots mix well with Brother Ev's rock and roll sensibilities not to mention John planting the roots for the group and Robio keeping them all together from time to time.
Catch Ray's Used Hubcaps all over the southeast and when you're at their shows don't forget to boogie.
